On highway 132, east of Pahoa, is Lava Tree State Park. This park was formed 200 years ago when a rapidly a moving lava flow passed thought the area. The lava hardened around the Ohia trees forming chimney like structures that haunt the landscape. The walk through the park is about a mile long.
