The catchment system is very common in most of rural Hawaii where County water (piped in) is not available. Water is caught on the roof of the house in traditional gutters and stored in an above ground “catchment tank”. When needed it is pumped into the home by a small electric pump. The water is filtered to assure its purity. The systems are not very expensive to install or maintain.
